MONDOVì

The flying city

The city is located in a privileged geographical position, between mountains, hills and plains. The latter extend northwards towards Turin, about 75 km away; to the east, the hills open up towards the Langhe, while to the south and west, the view is directed towards the Alps.Mondovì has a natural charm: its medieval historic centre, the views of the Alps and a lively cultural scene make it a destination full of surprises. With its historic buildings, Baroque churches, panoramic towers and unusual museums, the city retains an authentic atmosphere typical of the Piedmont province. It is no coincidence that Mondovì is known as the “flying city”: every January, the sky is filled with hot air balloons during the famous International Balloon Rally, a symbolic event that has established it as the Italian home of ballooning.
